Part 1: My best picture

ree

This is my most successful image as I believe there are a combination of factors which help the image to stand out. First, I believe I followed the rule of thirds well in where I placed my subject in relation to the frame. The colors that are in the picture also help it to stand out. I like how the white shirt pops out against the tan background and how the color of the flowers is the same as the color of the design on the shirt. The most challenging part of this assignment for me was the "color and black and white" category. I think I made it more difficult for myself since I was looking for naturally occurring examples of each of the categories instead of just placing items next to each other to complete the category. In the future to create stronger images I will be more aware of how the composition of a picture is important in the type of feeling or emotion I am trying to convey and how lighting is also important and can change what the viewer focuses on and how they feel looking at the image. For example, in the diffused lighting picture since the lighting is not the main focus the subject more easily stands out, especially with the dark-colored fur against the green grass.

Part 2: Peer Comments

I really like this image! I think a lot of things are at play here that make it a good picture. I really like the use of back light that makes the door frame look really dark especially against the light pastel colors of the sunset. I think maybe with some editing it could make the colors of the sunset pop out more and the picture would look even better, but overall I really liked this picture! I think it really conveys the mood you were trying to capture when you took it.

Descriptive: This image was only taken so I could show my friend that I liked the pillows that the store had and what they looked like....
