For my presentation, I decided to look into the work of Manuel Rivera Ortiz. I looked specifically into photographs from his books “India: A celebration of life” and “Cuba: Finding Home.” His works fall into the ethically evaluative category, as he shows the beauty that exists in the lives of those who live in poverty. His work reflects his own childhood experiences with poverty, especially through his photographs of Cuba. Reviewing Rivera Ortiz’s work changed my perspective on photography as it showed me that there is beauty everywhere, especially in the places that no one cares to look. Everyone deserves to have the beauty of their life photographed, it just takes one person who understands or seeks to understand for it to happen.

Comment for another student

You did a great job on connecting all of the pictures you chose together and explaining their deeper meaning. I think you did a great job with being concise but still including information to make the pictures understandable. The only thing I would recommend is with your audio of making sure it doesn't overlap but overall I really enjoyed your presentation!
